Before and After Photos

About Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty

A nonsurgical rhinoplasty is a minimally invasive treatment that uses dermal fillers to enhance certain areas of the nose to create a more flattering and proportionate appearance. This treatment can smooth bumps, refine your nasal tip, or create an overall more balanced and symmetrical nose. With this procedure, you can achieve natural-looking yet transformational enhancements without the downtime or risk of traditional surgery.

Juvéderm

At JL Plastic Surgery, we offer JUVÉDERM®, a portfolio of hyaluronic acid (HA) based dermal fillers that can fill in wrinkles, restore natural-looking volume, and augment certain features. Juvéderm features patented Vycross™ and Hylacross™ technology that helps to blend with and scaffold tissue to create smooth, natural-looking improvements. Dr. Lee or another injection specialist will work with you to determine which option will deliver your desired results.

Candidates

You may make a suitable candidate for a nonsurgical rhinoplasty if you are seeking to augment the sculpt and symmetry of your nose without an extensive recovery, general anesthesia, or the use of incisions. Nose shape can also greatly influence candidacy. You may also find this procedure beneficial if you are interested in addressing minimal concerns or achieving more subtle enhancements.

Patients should be in good general health and hold realistic expectations regarding what this procedure can achieve. Dr. Lee will finalize your candidacy during your personal consultation.

Personal Consultation

The first step to enhancing your nasal aesthetics is attending a personal consultation. During this consultation, Dr. Lee or an injection specialist will meet with you individually to get to know you more personally and determine if this treatment is right for you. They will ask you about your medical history, concerns, and treatment goals. They will also perform a physical examination to assess your nose and its relationship with your other features.

Dr. Lee will use this information to determine your candidacy and create your treatment plan. He will explain the benefits and limitations of nonsurgical rhinoplasty and help you explore your filler options. Throughout the consultation, he will also answer any questions you may have.

To schedule this consultation, please contact us online or call our Newton office directly at (617) 340-2822.

Preparation

After your consultation, we will provide a set of guidelines to help you prepare for your nonsurgical rhinoplasty. These instructions will be fairly simple, as this is a minimally invasive treatment, but following them closely will ensure optimal results. These instructions may include:

  • Discontinuing the use of blood-thinning medications and supplements as approved by your primary care doctor.
  • Ceasing the use of nicotine and alcohol several weeks in advance.
  • Avoiding harsh or abrasive skincare products.
  • Wearing sun protection when outside.

We ask that you arrive at your appointment with clean skin that is free from any makeup or skincare products.

Procedure

Nonsurgical rhinoplasty typically only takes 15 to 45 minutes to perform.

When you arrive, we will cleanse and sanitize your skin, then use a skin-safe marker to mark precise injection sites. We can apply a topical numbing agent to provide a more comfortable experience. After this, Dr. Lee or another injection specialist will use a fine needle to measure and administer Juvéderm on and around your nose. They can address your nasal bridge, refine your nasal tip, contour your alar base, augment your dorsal hump, and more.

Recovery

You will be able to return to most of your daily activities after your treatment, as nonsurgical rhinoplasty does not require extensive recovery time. You may experience swelling or redness near the injection sites, but these effects will gradually dissipate on their own. You should avoid touching or putting pressure on your nose, as well as avoiding the use of glasses.

We will provide you with more detailed recovery instructions during your personal consultation. By following each instruction, you will optimize your recovery and your results.

Results

You will be able to see improvements in your nasal aesthetics immediately after your appointment, but the full, refined results of your nonsurgical rhinoplasty will become more apparent after any swelling subsides. Because nonsurgical rhinoplasty produces subtle results, your new nasal appearance will be natural-looking and harmonious.

Nonsurgical rhinoplasties yield temporary results, which means you will need to undergo maintenance treatments if you would like to maintain your results. However, results can last between several months to over a year or longer.

Cost of Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty in Boston and Newton

FAQ

What is the difference between a nonsurgical rhinoplasty and a surgical rhinoplasty?

A nonsurgical rhinoplasty uses dermal fillers and injectables to enhance the appearance of the nose, while a surgical rhinoplasty uses more extensive techniques such as bone reshaping or cartilage grafting to achieve its effects. Surgical rhinoplasty requires incisions, downtime, and patience as it can take an entire year for swelling to fully subside. Patients can see more immediate results with a liquid rhinoplasty, although these results will be temporary.

Is nonsurgical rhinoplasty a substitute for surgical rhinoplasty?

A nonsurgical rhinoplasty can address minor concerns or allow patients to test a new look before committing to surgical intervention. Dermal fillers, however, cannot replace the permanent results of surgery.

What can a nonsurgical rhinoplasty correct?

A nonsurgical rhinoplasty can temporarily address minimal to mild concerns, such as increasing the projection of your nose tip, refining your nasal bridge, addressing a narrow alar base, and more. Dr. Lee or one of our injection specialists will evaluate your nasal anatomy during your consultation to determine whether this procedure is appropriate for your concerns.

Does a nonsurgical rhinoplasty have any risks?

As with any procedure, there are certain risks, including unevenness, dissatisfaction with results, infection, and more. However, nonsurgical rhinoplasties have significantly fewer risks than surgical rhinoplasties. During your consultation, we will discuss each risk and how to avoid it so you feel thoroughly informed.

What is a liquid rhinoplasty?

A liquid rhinoplasty, also known as nonsurgical rhinoplasty, is an alternative to surgical rhinoplasty that uses dermal fillers to shape and augment the nose.

How long will the results of my liquid rhinoplasty last?

Patients often see the results of their liquid rhinoplasty last for 6-12 months. This duration may vary depending on the type of fillers used, patient metabolism, and lifestyle. After the effects of the liquid rhinoplasty have worn off, patients may choose to undergo an additional treatment to revitalize their results. Other patients use liquid rhinoplasty as a way to envision what the results of a surgical rhinoplasty may look like for them, and will proceed with a surgical procedure after the results wear off.
