Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling Boston, MA

RF Microneedling is a nonsurgical treatment for your skin that involves two main components. The first is the mechanical effect of the needles. These tiny needles cause microscopic wound healing and can stimulate collagen and healthier skin. The second component is the radiofrequency energy delivered under the skin through these needles. The energy causes increased collagen stimulation and has a skin tightening effect. This treatment is great treatment to improve the overall quality of your skin, can help improve fine lines and texture (such as acne scarring), and can tighten the skin to provide more youthful skin.

Procedure

The first step is to apply numbing cream on the treatment area, most commonly the face and/or neck. Once the area is numb, the microneedling handpiece is used to treat the skin. Multiple passes are generally used for optimal benefit. Depending on the thickness of your skin, the depth and energy will vary. It is also important to discuss your priorities as this can help optimize your treatment. Most patients choose a series of 3 treatments spaced 1 month apart for best results.

Recovery

Patients usually experience 1-2 days of redness, swelling, and sometimes mild peeling. Discomfort is generally minimal during recovery and most patients do not require any pain medication.

FAQ

can i combine this with coolpeel or laser resurfacing?

Definitely. For the maximum amount of improvement, we often recommend combining Coolpeel/Laser Resurfacing with your RF microneedling treatment. This helps treat the skin both from the surface with the laser and deeper with the RF microneedling. This also allows for the most efficient use of recovery as your body will heal both treatments at the same time. During your consultation we will recommend the best treatment for you and your goals.

does it hurt?

RF microneedling, like any treatment, can be uncomfortable but we do everything we can to minimize pain. Many patients choose to take advantage of our Pronox nitrous oxide system to allow for minimal discomfort and still be able to drive home. Please ask us about this option if you are interested.
