Face/neck lift for men is treated very similar to that in women. Please see our Face/neck lift page for general information.
The benefits of this surgery in men are the same as they are for women. The surgery serves to rejuvenate your face and make you look like you did when you were younger. Since the surgery reverses the effects of gravity, it won’t make you look like somebody else. Many men have the concern that a face/neck lift will make their face look more feminine, but this is not true. All this surgery does is reverse the effects of gravity which is the main driving force in an aging face.
In men, the main difference lies in the way the scar shows and its effect on short hair that is more typical in men. Firstly, the sideburn can often get shifted towards the ear. Men who undergo face/neck lift surgery sometimes choose to get laser hair removal or shave this area on their own. The second difference is the hairline behind the ear. Since the scar behind your ear must end in your hair, it can sometimes alter your hairline. Since most women have long hair and cover this area, it is not an issue. In men with short hair, it can be more noticeable. In those men who want to cover up this area, the two most common options are to grow the hair out a little bit, or to get hair transplant into this area. Most men choose to actually grow their hair out before surgery so that their friends or coworkers focus their attention on the change of hair style as opposed to the change in their face.
